That\u2019s right: once again you\u2019ll get to revel in all things WordPress here in Austin on October 21-22, 2017!<\/p>\n<p>And as part of that, we\u2019d like to invite you to participate.<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019re currently accepting pitches for presentations from everyone in Austin, as well as our friends all across the wider WordPress community.<\/p>\n<p>This is a great way to get your business and expertise out in front of our vibrant WordPress community, meet some great developers and business owners, and have a blast! Because if you haven\u2019t heard, WordCamps aren\u2019t your typical conferences. They\u2019re full of energy and fun from start to finish.<\/p>\n<h2>What We\u2019re Looking For<\/h2>\n<p>For WordCampATX we\u2019d like to see what the best minds have to offer. This is Austin, after all!<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/2017.austin.wordcamp.org\/files\/2017\/07\/technology-computer-work-485863-1024x684.jpg?resize=525%2C351\" alt=\"\" width=\"525\" height=\"351\" \/>We\u2019d love to hear from WordPress developers who can geek out on backend code, and designers that will demonstrate the latest in theme design, CSS and Javascript bells and whistles.<\/p>\n<p>But a good WordCamp is more than how to engineer a great WordPress site.<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019d also like to hear from people who use WordPress for their businesses. Are you a freelancer or small business owner? What kind of tips and tricks can you share with us? Have you discovered clever ways to integrate mailing lists or membership plugins? How about using your site for ecommerce? Examples of WordPress in the wild will inspire attendees and help them understand the power of the WordPress platform.<\/p>\n<p>We would also love to hear from folks who can help out our newbies. At each WordCamp a good number of our attendees are brand new to the WordPress universe. That means we\u2019ll welcome basic tutorials on using WordPress, choosing themes and plugins, and working with other media.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/2017.austin.wordcamp.org\/files\/2017\/07\/pexels-photo-480935-1024x683.jpeg?resize=525%2C350\" alt=\"\" width=\"525\" height=\"350\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>And let\u2019s not forget content! What makes a website effective? What are good blogging practices? How can content drive SEO? We\u2019d love to have some writers, UX designers and SEO experts come and share their craft with us.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, there\u2019s those topics that touch on our broader community. Tell us how you get involved in your local WordPress community, or your high-tech or design groups. How do you use WordPress to benefit nonprofits and change lives?<\/p>\n<h2>WordCamp Austin Talk Tracks<\/h2>\n<p>For WordCampATX we currently have three tracks:<\/p>\n<p>1. Starting a website: The Full Picture<\/p>\n<p>2. Making a living with WordPress<\/p>\n<p>3. WordPress as a Solution<\/p>\n<p>These tracks don&#8217;t cover everything, however\u2014they\u2019re just the beginning! If you have an idea that doesn\u2019t fit into one of those topics, that\u2019s great. We\u2019ll have room for lots of other talks throughout the two days of WordCamp Austin, so don\u2019t worry if your idea seems a bit \u201cout there.\u201d This is Austin, after all, and we firmly believe in keeping Austin weird!<\/p>\n<h2>Still Not Convinced?<\/h2>\n<p>Look, we get it. You may be new to WordCamps. You might think you\u2019re too new at this whole WordPress thing to make a contribution.
