Knowing the WordPress template hierarchy means that you can track something that you want to change on the front-end back of a WordPress site back to the proper template file and locate the necessary code to change. It also means that when building or extending themes, you know the proper file names, related template tags, and best practices for building out templates and new sections of a site. This talk will give an overview of the theme template hierarchy as well as some common template tags and best practices used when editing those files.
