Who am I? A blind WordPress plug-in developer and an advocate and consultant on web accessibility. Many of the accessibility limitations in WordPress can be easily overcome, with a little knowledge for end users of the WordPress site. Not as true for the blind developer of a WordPress site. My WordPress developer friend says to me when I ask them a WordPress question, “What is missing on the dash board?” I laugh and respond, “Well I don’t hear my screen reader speaking half of the things your mentioning but maybe I just haven’t found them yet.” I give this response as I think to myself, “If I knew what was missing, it would be missing.” Knowing of course that my friend is trying to assist I keep this thought to myself. That’s just one example a blind eye on WordPress exposes.
