What is WordCamp?
WordCamps are casual, locally-organized, non-profit conferences covering everything related toWordPress, the free and open source personal publishing software that powers millions of sites on the web. One of the best things about WordCamps is they are based on a open source philosophy where everyone participates by contributing what they can. It may be that you want to support WordCamp by volunteering to help plan, or work the event. Perhaps you have WordPress knowledge, skill and experiences you wish to share as a presenter or maybe you can expand the WordPress Community by reaching out to help a fellow camper. WordCamp Austin 2012 is very much a community event, being organized by the members of Austin WordPress Meetup Group.
This year’s WordCamp will include sessions from basic WordPress user information for Bloggers to CMS for WordPress site development and responsive design. The session topics are being driven by suggestions submitted by the Austin WordPress Community. WordCamp presentations and discussions are led by people who are passionate about WordPress, and everyone from casual end users, all the way up to core developers, show up for WordCamps. The types of sessions typically seen at WordCamps can be viewed at the WordCamp channel atWordPress.tv.
